Default account trading and possible scam

I was selling a sword last night, some guy approach me and offered to trade his extra account for it.
He's willing to give me the account information and pass first then let me verify it before getting the sword from me.

I went on to check out his account. It has a few lvl1 characters with nothing on them. I logged back in and was ready to give him the sword. But then when I log in, I realized there is a "password reset" option. I realized that it was a scam so I pm him for the email password as well. Then he just disapear.

So my question is, there is no way to trade for an account? Even if he gave me his email password, he could simply reset the password of his email, then reset the password of the account.

And for those people that got their accounts hacked, can't they just reset password and get their account back? why they need to contact anet?

Although, I did not try, but I believe that reseting the password will generate a new password and have it send to the account name (email). So how can people get their accounts stolen?? and how is it possible to trade accounts?

Simple answer..

Never trade anything for an account
Never buy an account with gold
Never buy one off Ebay or any other online shop unless they are factory sealed.

I understand those. I just want people to watch out for thsoe scams. but the second part of my question, how can people get their account stolen when they can reset password to their own email?

Some people are foolish enough to use the same password for both their email account, and their GW account.

u cn still give or be given an account with no trade action

the first thing to do in this situation if you are the reciever of the account is to login to the account and change the email address

a confirmation is then sent to both the old and new email address

the old email address has to confirm the change then you can change the password

once you have changed the email address and then changed the password

log into the account and make sure your password works...

boom bam done...

if you are giving an account it is in your best interest to change the password first so not to give away any hint of your personal password preferences and then give the new owner the account name and password... allow them to change the email address and confirm the change via the email sent to you...

this is how any accound should be given or gotten....

I did this when donating my old extra prophacies account to my guild that my wife played about 3 days then decided the game wasn't for her

everytime i see someone trying to buy or sell an account i pm them letting them know what they are doing is bannable and against the eula... they usually stop... if they dont i report...

if your one of the unlucky ones that i reported... oh well for you... you should have payed attention to what you agreed to...

If people are dumb enough to fall for such things then its their own fault..

Account stealers change the Account name I think..

Enough has been said on the issue, basically never trust anyone ingame regarding account information or the trading of accounts.
